COMCAST + Router + 2 laptops - won't work!

I have COMCAST at home, and a Linksys router. I have 2 laptops, and I can only connect one of them at once! If I have one connected, when I try to connect the second one it goes "acquiring IP address" forever and in the end connects with "limited connectivity".

    Weird facts:

    - If I turn the other computer on first, it will connect all right, and the other won't.
    - I have a second router, of another brand (GTS - from Brazil, where I am from) that used to work just fine with as many computers as it would, and same happens. Guess is not the router.

    Help!

When you initially set up the Linksys router, did you use a cable connection to one of the laptops?
If not, I would reset the Linksys to factory defaults and set it up again by wired connection and then go wireless.
If yes, I would check in the configuration menu of the router to make sure the DHCP service is enabled. (It should be by default.)
Do the laptops connect at the same time if you use wired connections?
Model and version number of the Linksys would be a help if these suggestions don't work. Also, what operating system - XP, Vista, etc.?

Thank you for reply. Actually I did set up wired then went wireless.
I don't believe I set up DHCP service. Can I do this wireless?
I cannot try to connect both wired, because there isn't a physicall connection from the router for wired connection. (only one, that I need to use from COMCAST inbound)

Model is WAP54G, version 3.1, both laptops Windows XP!

    Thank you!

Well, I hate to tell you this but, your Linksys is not a router, it is an Access Point. It does not provide a DHCP service which assigns IP addresses to different computers.
You can use it with your present GTS router to extend wireless coverage over your home.
User Manual for your access point.
Not knowing the capabilities of the GTS router limits me in knowing what you should do. If you can give some more information on it, then I can give some more suggestions.
    Hope this helps.

    Damn, I feel stupid! :)))

Anyway, that is not the best news but I won't insist on trying to connect both computers to the router anymore :)

Thank you! Will work on the GTS one now.
