I enabled the spam folder in Comcast which catches about 30 a week. I have no other issues with my M.S. account, Gmail or Apple account(Phone).
It got me thinking I might change from Windows Security and MBAM free to another defense.
If MS is deferring to MBAM activated, perhaps it is not attending to its own products.
I use MBAM as stand alone.
I can't believe Norton is recommended as it used to entrench in the machine and be terrible to remove even with a tool and also consumed resources.
Would it be good to keep things as they are or to switch to some USA company.

    Why?

For years (since Win7), I relied on Windows' built-in antimalware, and a tiny handful of harmless PUP's aside, it has never caught anything! So maybe it was too rudimentary? Well, all that time, I also did periodic (monthly) full, manual scans using the free Malwarebytes. And it never caught anything either!

So, starting with Win 10, I never bothered with Malwarebytes (or any other antimalware app) anymore. Window's own antimalware integrates seamlessly and doesn't nag users to upgrade to paid versions, etc. Leave well enough alone. Besides, no matter what outfit you settle on - paid or unpaid - the best defenses come from user "common sense":

    1. Keep your OS and apps (esp. browser) updated.
    2. Sign on as 'standard' user - do NOT regularly sign on as 'admin'.
    3. Bookmark all your important sites (make sure to use "https" addresses) and never click email links to those sites.
    4. Always be wary of email/texts/websites - don't go clicking mindlessly.
    5. And always make multiple backup's - one set kept offline / off premises.

Thank you very much for the sophisticated yet common sense answer.

I waited a while b/c I have been in touch with friends, and they too were or are bombarded with junk/spam.
    I forward to abuse@comcast.net and spam@donotreply.com.

Since doing that for about 4 days I have very little abusive email.

Incidentally, Chrome would not respond to a command for about 4 days. I tried everything and when I booted up one day it was remedied. After consulting friends, I found I wasted time as it was on Chrome's end. This lasted 7-23-22 for 3-4 days and Edge was a good substitute. There are rare times I need two browsers.
