    Optimum does the same thing where I am. I can go to a friend, or client's home and not have to ask for their key.

    It's relatively rural here, and as far as "wardriving" it would not work out so well for you. You need to set up such access via your CableVision account details, so you are "on the grid".

    The fact that it's a totally separate channel is what lets them do it, but it should be an option you can have turned off. If it's not a choice, that's the equivalent of corporate fascism in play.

    I'm not sure how strong any lawsuit would be. There is an opt out option for this. If people would educate themselves and actually read the stuff sent to them, they would know that.

    I somewhat agree Laura, but I really don't have time to study all the user agreements I get. Just understanding my WoW agreement took some time and they change it often.
    People don't read most the the appalling large amount of information sent to them. I just got a five page letter from my house loan people that they MAY sell the loan to another company and to watch my mail for more information.
