I'm not into games but would like to download this for #2 son.

Do I need both the GDI ISO and the Nod ISO downloads?
I assume not. What's the difference?

At over 500 megs download, each, I will need to schedule the download/s at my off peak time (Midnight to 7am daily) so I don't blow my monthly ISP allowance.

I'd download both, Baz.

Can't recall exactly the details for the original game, but I know that some sequels required both for installation, and others required both to play both factions. (The GDI and NOD missions)

Alright... did some snooping around, and according to the installation instructions you do only need one for install.
You will lose out on playing the other faction, though.

 

OK, I am all pumped that I finally got these silly discs to dowload, but now that I have them loaded in my virtual drive and everything, I try to install them and it says, "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application." What on this green Earth does that mean? This happens when I try to run the install or setup on either NOD or GDI, and I tried running on 95 compatability, no help. Any suggestions?

one disc is for the GDI missions, the other is for NOD. at least thats how the original discs were. id get them both though

 

As I'm a non-game player, can you explain what GDI and NOD mean? Bazza

GDI=Global Defense Initiative aka the good guiys (its just the name of the team)

NOD are the bad guys, the other team.

GDI disc is the GDI campaign and vis versa

Just went to download first one.
Download "speed" is 10KB/s. :cry I was hoping for at least 200KB/s.)
10KB/s is only twice as "fast" as dialup.
500 meg download.
15 hours to download.

just a little fyi, you need the xp gold patch which removes network play, and you have to burn the cd images before you can play the campaigns which isnt too bad but i like mounting more than burning... i turned this one down. as well as farcry's lame attempt at a free game, no possibility of multiplayer
