If you have the money to buy a REAL cpu, then don't buy a Celeron.

Celerons are the cheapest (junk) processors made by Intel.
They have very little cache built in, which is very critical to the performance of any processor.
The more cache memory that's built into a CPU chip, the higher performance that CPU will be.

If you already have the motherboard and are committed to an Intel CPU then buy a more top-o-the-line CPU, not a Celeron.

The reason I was looking at celeron was as the 2.8 celeron powered pc I built for one of my sons was and is much better than the intel P4 2.4 built for number two son. The celeron is still up and running well whereas the p4 never ran really well but that maybe/was due to the motherboard which died after little more than twelve months. The p4 was on a gigabyte board the celeron on msi neo. I no the prossesers wernt a true comparison speed wise but the expereience has left me in favor of celeron
