Recently downloaded and installed Comodo Internet Security. Getting a lot of popups from Defense + regarding allowing/blocking programs. I have no idea what most of these programs are and don't have the time/energy to analyze each one. Should I lower the Defense + setting or disable it? Are there other similar programs which are more user friendly as an alternative? More broadly, what's the best way to balance ease of usage and security?
    Thanks, RB

If your getting lots of popoups and haven't got the time or you don't understand half of them, then i suggest you uninstall Comodo Internet Security using revo uninstaller linked http://majorgeeks.com/Revo_Uninstaller_d5706.html then download something a little less harder for you to understand, due to some of the popups you will be recieving maybe false positives and some might just be warning you of real dangerous software you may have either installed or dangerous security flaws, and you'll have to be careful what you block out and what you don't !

    Good Luck Rusty ! ;)

What if I keep CIS and just disable the Defense +? There's got to be a way within the program to minimize popups. As for easier to use alternatives, suggestions?

Welll then i suggest you contact Comodo themselves, because i would not like to be the one to make that decision for you, because if they are not false positives that are popping up then your in the mucky stuff aren't you, when you disable the Defense + just for the sake of minimising the popups !

    Good Luck Rusty ! :)

What I did was to uninstall and reinstall. The default setting for Defense + is high /level 5. I re-set to the training / level 2 and the popups are more manageable. Sure this decreases security to a certain extent but it avoids being bombarded by popups upon installation. Thread can be closed.

Hello RB,if we are talking the free version of CIS you might want to take rusty jack's advice and find something else less confusing.alternatively if not please do not disable defense +
you do have options.when I put mine in the default settings were not acceptable in the Anti Virus or Firewall. so they were tweaked.both the AV and Firewall have slider settings.firewall should be in safe mode, both boxes below should be checked they were not after install also on that same tab you have alert settings slider like the other sliders when moved they explain what will happen when left there.likewise with the AV tab.realtime slider should be enabled.heuristics should be set to high.same page has scheduled or manual scanning.the popups have important information that tell you what program or application wants access along with accept(remember this setting) and deny.please read them as it explains that if you use or recognize the program/app and it's safe you can allow it which in turn make the rule for said app or program. Not an IT.just familiar with many suites out there and understand how to make them work for me.I guess since the early 80's I have likely run the gamut with many if not most. Not everyone is security minded that these days is almost a must.
best of luck to you RB
