I found Comodo on my computer, I went into control panel an uninstalled it. When I go into my program files it is still there and I am receiving pop ups from it. I still have the program in my program directory, and it keeps sending popups while I am on the computer. I made numerous attempts to get help from comodo. They will only do it for a charge, then several Geek Buddys could not help just kept getting off the chats by telling me to try this or that. Now I still cannot remove this program. Do You have any ideas???? Somehow they said, when I downloaded another program it was downloaded also. Now my computer is all messed up. Please help!

Just wanted to let you know, now I am getting a pending charge on my credit card (which I never gave to anyone)and I don't know what it was for I only spoke to Comodo and their Geek Buddy. We were warned of spams in our area. NowI have to find out how to stop all of this. What a mess.

I did not download the comodo, they transferred me to geek buddy, I never gave them my credit card, don't know how they got it unless they are in my computer and the only mention of the cost was when I asked for assistance she told me it would cost me so I said, no thank you and hung up the phone. This has been a nightmare experience on the computer.

Hey wadda, did you buy the computer new or used ?? I have Comodo Security on one of my computers and it's a long process installing it and then letting it update and scan, so I figured it had to be on there when you got it.

Thank you for taking your time to answer my problem. My computer was purchased new from Best Buy and it had Kapersky on it. I assure you I have no idea what occured except the Geek Buddy were the the ones that tried to help me with my problem just sending me from one to the other. Then I see this charge pending on my Credit Card. I did not give any one my card number. The only thing I can think is that this is the scam that the local tv news were warning us about. Being a senior I would never give out my personal information. I did however, give my full name and my telephone number. I was on the phone with them for a couple of hours yesterday and today but no one was able to help me remove the program.

    regards,

This is how the worst scams work. They obtain your credit card number at any place you use it with a recorder or write it down...yep, the employees! They even use video tape setups to get the number. Next, because they can't use the card number without more information, they will actually go so far as to find your phone number and call you, saying they represent some official organization and need your name/address/social security number, etc. Seriously, there are thieves everywhere today.

I know you know, but NEVER give out any numerical information of any kind over the phone or on the internet or via e-mail or other correspondence. Only give out your personal information in person to individuals you can confirm are legitimately authorized to see the information. Protect with your life your Social Security number. It's like the holy grail for thieves. If they have any of your credit information and your SSN, they can do anything basically...

My sister just had a very close call. She applied online for a home loan and a unexplained card charge showed up. She cancelled them all before it got any further. She was very lucky and smart. It was an alert that tipped her off to the card usage, something she gets through her bank...

Honestly, I look at everyone sideways these days. I just don't know why people would rather steal than earn their money...

Thank you for your kind response. Sure is getting to be a hard time to do anything. I am on a fixed income being a senior so I hope I can resolve this and not get anymore bogus charges.

wadda, to remove Comodo try this and use the Forced Uninstall and type in Comodo where is says Name. It is a free trial version. http://www.revouninstaller.com/.

As for the cred it charge call your credit card company and ask when and what time was this charge put on, and report that you didn't authorize this charge.

I am also a senior citizen. Quite a few years back, I went to my bank and got a low permanent limit credit card for use only on the computer. I have it set up so that if any charge over $20 is put on the card, I get an email alert.
Of course I purchase things that cost more than $20 so when an alert comes in, I look at the date and amount and compare it to my printed receipts from web purchases. If I do not recognize the charge, I call the 800 number on the back of the card.

I've only had one problem in all these years and I did not have to pay the bogus charges.

I found this when trying to figure out what GeekBuddy was.

If the Comodo people had a remote connection to your computer, there is no telling what they looked at.

I've turned off remote connection to our computers.

wadda, Right click Computer, go to Properties, click the Remote tab (if it's not open), uncheck Allow Remote Assistance Connections to this Computer, the check Don't Allow connections to this Computer, then click Allow, then OK. And that's it.

Thank you, I did this this morning. When I logged on this morning, I received a message on my desktop "Catalyst Control Center: Host a pplication has stopped working." Don't know what this is or what I should do?
