Comp keeps freezing suddenly

Hey - my computer keeps freezing out of no where. Did it twice so far today.

P4 2.4ghz w/HT
1gb pc2700
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro

I just dusted it out - hopefully that'll work. I don't have an air can right now, I'll take one from work on Monday, so will repeat on Monday.

I'm thinking maybe it was the video card overheating. The display stays on, but I can't move the mouse, alt+tab anything. Have to manually reboot the computer.

I checked temps and they're at 46*C for the CPU, 28* for motherboard. CPU fan is at 2700rpm.

 

Hmmm, Well i had a similar problem only with my problem, the system just restered itself suddely. I thought it was an overheat at first but i was just browsing through my motherboard manual when i realised my cpu was too fast for my motherboard. Try checking your motherboard manual and have a look to see what speed of cpu your mainboard can handle. If thats the case and your cpu is a little to speedy for your board to handle try looking for a BIOS upgrade and see if that helps. Sorry if this doesn't solve your problem.

 

They match up =/ I cleaned it out like I said, and haven't had a problem sense. Even did a hot cpu check on it, did just great.

 

Ah, well looks like all it needed was a good dusting then. Hehe it's amazing how much dust and crap you find hiddin inside cases.
