I have been having problems after running Combofix. I am running XP and when it rebooted it gets to the login screen but you cannot move the pointer to logon.

Okay I got going with some time. Ran the rest of Read and Run Me. Now I've got no pictures on my browsers and can't get updates from microsoft. It tells me that access is denied when trying to it manually.

The scans did a good job of removing the malware. :)

We just need to do a little cleanup:

Run this: Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

Open notepad and copy and paste the following text in the quote box into the window:
    Save this as fix.bat
Choose to save as all files.
Doubleclick fix.bat and let the program run.
A small black dos window will flash, this is normal.

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file.

Okay I ran the rest of it and I attached the log file. I also got the success message.

I still can't get any updates from microsoft? Could I have conficker?

    Thanks for the help

Your logs are clean. No it is not conflicker. I would suggest that you run both CCleaner and ATF Cleaner by Atribune.

As far as updates...are they not downloading automatically or are you talking not being able to get to microsoft.com?
