COMPAQ 2500 Laptop

Are there OTHER USERS of this older Laptop Computer who belong to these Forums?

I continually READ the Manuals for this Laptop....but I've only recently purchased it USED from Ebay.....and I've not used a "laptop" before....

I'm thinking that it might be mutually Beneficial to know some other "users" of this particular Laptop...with whom to "compare notes". experiences, and "tweaks" on this machine.

As a rule, laptop PCs (especially older ones) have very limited upgrade options other than possibly increasing the amount of memory or installing a higher capacity hard drive.

Unlike custom-built desktop PCs, the BIOS in notebooks does not support overclocking. Since the cooling fan output in a notebook is pathetic compared to most desktop PCs, attempting to overclock would likely cause an overheating failure of the CPU or on-board video.

( I usually...as NOW...use my Desktop Computer ( HP dx5150 )....also an "older" machine.
But...It suits MY uses just fine.
The Compaq 2500 Laptop is something I wanted primarily so I could sit in the backyard "writing" OR accessing the Internet while outdoors. I also figure that it would be "handy" to take to a Coffee-Shop on those rare occasions that I leave home.

The Compaq 2500 Laptop has many of the "older connections" common on Desktops that apparently are not used or needed on newer Laptops....( or Desktops ? ).

So....I found THIS "particular" Laptop to be most interesting.
