   There is an old notebook someone wants me to fix it is a Compaq Evo N1020V when start up comes on screen is bright like normal but when it is actually to the desktop it is so dim you can hardly see whats on the screen any help on fixing this would be tremendous!! Thanks, JOE

   Try an external monitor to see if the backlight on the notebook is gone. If the external is bright, then you know it is the notebook display.
