im running through the basic maintenance right now before i start the malaware process. Im running the Ccleaner startup and have 31 programs on startup what is the basic things i need to have on the startup because that seems a bit much. If need i will make a list of whats running on the startup.

Discussing start up issues is not subject for this forum. If you would like to visit software after having me check your logs for malware, that would be a wiser plan. If you're infected we don't want to waste time by speeding up your boot up process, we will need to get to work straight away. So please attach the requested logs if you need assistance.

If this is nothing to do with malware (I just noticed your thread title) then please let me know and I will move your thread to software.

    Thanks :)

Good evening. I would just like to politely ask you what on earth you are doing by starting multiple threads in malware removal dating right back to may of this year and not ever actually completing the malware removal process or following any of our instructions?

To request help and to then ignore it and create yet another thread is considered a little rude. You need to stick to this thread if you require assistance, and you must follow my instructions and not leap off to create new threads.

Thankyou for your co-operation & understanding.

Now then. I have merged your other post with your attachments here to one neat and tidy thread :) This is the thread you need to stick to whilst we go through the malware removal process!

At least I have given you fair warning about not creating multiple threads, if you do decide to go ahead and make more I shall have to consider it a time waster :(

So please do co-operate and I shall do my very best to help clean your computer if it's indeed infected.

You have combofix running from the wrong location. It shouldn't be inside a directory like it is:

It should be sat directly on the desktop. Please move it before we continue and I will get back to you with a set of instructions as soon as possible. For now I have to go to bed.

    Thankyou
    Kes13!

I respect that, (and can check logs to verify that fact) however I would still like to ask why you never actually follow a thread through? Why request the help if you do not continue to work with us? here's just one example of many:

Oh do they? I'm sorry to hear that, but please understand how we work here at Majorgeeks, and might I add that we all dedicate our own free time when we are not working our usual jobs to helping people such as yourself .. free of charge :) That's a pretty nice touch, and all you have to do is be patient, and follow instructions. If you're not just about to walk out the door I have a fix coming up for you if you still want it.

    1. I still need to see the log from running SUPERantispyware. You neglected to attach that. Even if it found not threats I still want to see it please.

    2. What problems were you having exactly? If things seem slow this is why, you could do with a memory upgrade:

    3. Ensure also that MGTools is indeed directly on your C drive and not in this location:

    4. If you do not use Windows Messenger Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

    5. Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    6. Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

    7. Now we need to use ComboFix
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:
    Code:

    KILLALL::

    Registry::
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupfolder]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupfolder]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{02478D38-C3F9-4EFB-9B51-7695ECA05670}]

    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

      http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    8. Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Combofix. and also the log from SUPERantispyware.

    9. Let us know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!
