compaq presario sr5130nx

posted to the wrong thread by accident but here's my initial complaint

Ive looked at the other links, and tryed seeing what i can figure out. I went to the compaq site and couldnt find network drivers...at this rate im just gona buy a new ethernet card but rather not. I have windows xp service pack 3 but yeah, it doesnt even detect the device...help pllease thanks

tryed looking on the microsoft page too.

 

Check the device manager and tell us what is listed with yellow exclamation points ! and red X's. If you see nothing listed as 'Network Controller' or 'Ethernet Adapter' or even as an 'Unknown Device' or possibly 'PCI Device', then there's a chance the on-board ethernet is either disabled in the system BIOS, or the device is simply faulty.
