compatability or overkill?

Running a Pentium 4, 1.8 ghz
256 mb ram
80gb HD
XP SP2

I have Trend Micro's PC chilling installed and is working great. Got a program as a gift and haven't been able to find much info on it. "OSsurance Desktop" Internet Security, version 4. My thoughts are that I don't need any additional securities but I am relatively new at this and thought I would come here and ask the experts.
Not even sure what this new program does as anything I found was difficult to understand. Thoughts? Overkill? Are the programs even compatible?

While I'm far from being the expert that some members of this board are, I did a quick Google search on the program. Although everything that I read pertained to Version 3, it seems to be a non signature based anti-virus program attuned to the most common methods that viruses and trojans use - buffer overflows, etc.

That being said, it would seem strange that the major anti-virus manufacturers rely on signature based products, if the "sandbox" method that this program uses is superior or better. For myself, I use the tried and true utilities that I know work - Avast anti-virus, Spybot Search and Destroy, AdAware SE, and A2 Squared. All are available on MajorGeeks as free downloads, but Avast and A2 require registration.

If you like to experiment, then give the program a try, as that is the way that you learn. Make sure that you have any valuable data backed up, and the necessary programs to restore your PC, if necessary.

thanks for the reply. When I searched for info I also could only get version 3 information. I will probably install it and see what happens. Backed everything up. Been there, done that with losing everything.
