I have one horrid virus. Whatever I've picked up has done the following:

Entire desktop is black with no icons
    Start menu is BLANK
    C drive shows only BOOTSECT.BAK
    No internet access
Critical Error message: Hard drive critical error. Run system diagnostic utility to check your hard disk drive for erros
Hard Drive Failure message: The system has detected a problem with one or more installed IDE/SATA hard disks. It is recommended that you restart the system.
    Antimalware Doctor message on desktop
WindowsRecovery PC Performance and Stability analysis report on screen
Criticial Error message: Damaged hard drive clusters detected. Private data is at risk.
Critical Error message: Windows can't find hard disk space. Hard drive error.
Critical Error message: RAM memory usage is critically high. RAM memory failure.

Skype, my printer and Spybot all load in the teatimer so I know I have files, but they just appear to be hidden. I can run Spybot but when I try to delete anything the entire system shuts down. I have no system restore points (or so it says, although I know I created several).

I know I'm supposed to follow the stickies before I post but since I can't do anything on the internet I can't download the programs I am supposed to. I'm using my daughter's laptop to post this. Please tell me this is fixable. I am so upset right now!!

There is probably not much we can do in the malware forum to help you if you can't run anything. The hard disc errors bother me, as it could be a failing hard drive. If you can open task manager, can you type in explorer to start that process?

You can use a different computer to download the scanning tools, but I don't know what ability you have to transfer them to the affected machine.

I would try doing this first:
TDSSkiller - How to run -- If you can get it on your desktop, see if you can run it. If not, try running it through task manager.

But you may want to go ahead and post in the software forum for some of those error messages.

    • Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.
    • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
    • At the end, be sure a check-mark is placed next to the following:
      • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
      • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

    • Then click Finish.
    • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
    • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
    • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
    • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. Reboot your computer if prompted.
    • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. The rogue application should now be gone.
