I randomly stumbled on this site and I really hope that you can help me out. Here is the deal. About a month and a half ago, I sat down to my computer, (regular HP standard home computer) and turned it on only to find that it wouldn't let me log in. It wouldn't let me reboot, it wouldn't let me do anything other than recover the system back to the factory setting. That of course means that I lost EVERYTHING (which of course wasn't backed up :cry )...

Three years worth of pictures of my kids and births and birthdays, a lot of music downloaded (not cheap) files...So I borrowed a hard drive and was able to recover my pictures with a PC recovery program for music and JPEG's although it didn't recover music, only the pictures (which was still worth 80 dollars to me eeek!) I was then able to re-install Microsoft XP, then unistalled that to install Microsoft Teacher and Student edition, which I prefer. I upgraded the SP2 and added the standard Ad-Aware, Spyware Guard, Spybot and Super Anti Spyware...I upgraded to Windows Media player 11

My computer doesn't work basically. It stalls on every program. I unistalled the upgrade of SP2, I made sure that only the Teacher edition is on there...I have no idea what to do. I think I have screwed up something big. I have no idea if it was a virus that originally destroyed my computer... I defraged, I deleted everything from everything basically...I have followed all of the "My computer is slow" suggestions. I did the PC pitstop scans... Anyway...here is the HiJack this scan...

please let me know what to do. (internet is REALLY slow too, and I have hi-speed) I can't get email because it stalls out.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!
