Computer Boots to a black screen reading 2 Active partitions

Hello, My daughters computer, a Dell Inspiron 1525- Windows Vista Home premium - will not boot into Windows. The Dell screen loads and instead of windows a black screen with a flashing line saying 2 active partitions appears. No response to pressing any key, the computer was not set to dual boot but does have Dell Media Direct on it, which I assume is the 2nd partition referred to. Here is the sequence of events today.
Computer on for a couple of hours, turned off.
Turned on to watch a movie, started OK, computer temp reached 116 degrees (fell asleep with movie on) Turned off computer.
Several hours later turned on computer using Media Direct to remove disk, and here is the unfortunate part, was not aware of the exit function in Media Direct and used power button to turn off.
Tried to turn on several hours later with the black 2 active partitions result, killed power and retried with same results, called me.
I loaded the Vista disk and selected repair option, computer booted to same result. I ran Diagnostics, with passing results.
Attempted to run the Vista Repair Disk again but after choosing boot to disk all I get is the same 2 active partition screen. Can anybody advise?

 

Ok - for some reason I decided to try using Dells Media Direct to turn it on and it opened saying resuming Windows. I restarted it normally after that and it booted fine. I don't quite understand what happened but it's resolved.
