Hi, I'm in the process of building a new computer. will a usb keyboard work before the xp os is installed or should I use a ps/2 and then switch to the usb when everythings set and running. I 'm not sure if this is an issue since the last build I did was with a ps/2 and I later plugged in a usb so I think I should keep a ps2 on hand . thanks

A USB worked for me.If you want to be absolutely sure, use the ps2.

yes USB does work with Windows XP, as i have installed windows XP on a laptop with a USB keyboard since the laptop does not have a working onboard keyboard or ps/2 ports.

thanks for the feedback. Murphys Law was written for people like me I think and since I'm building it at home and then driving it 350 miles and there I'll install the o/s I guess I better bring along my old ps2 keyboard just in case.:)
