Computer cleaned itself up

A couple months ago, a computer tech cleaned several mean viruses for me. He returned the computer pretty clean, but it still had an issue with Internet Explorer not working (I use Firefox), and Outlook Express not working properly. These 2 issues seemed unrecoverable with all efforts by him and by me, so I began the process of moving files to an external drive with the intent of a reinstall of OS. During that time, the computer mysteriously cleaned itself up with no further effort. Just one day, viola, all is fine. Not complaining, would just like to know how that happened? Thanks.

Curious one and without knowing the ins and outs of what the errors with runnin IE and OE where etc then my best guess would be that either one of the last round of security updates for IE fixed that and OE at same time, run maintenence cleaning of temps etc or if you have uninstalled any software off that PC that may have potentially caused a conflict/fault with IE/OE then that helped resolve the issue.

After that guess the tech gremlins decided to move onto someone else, computing is a weird mystery at times.

Never underestimate the power of threatening electronics.

That's what happened! The OS saw you were going to reinstall it, so it fixed itself up.
