my computer is constantly freezing, used to work fine, and now whenever I boot it I get like 5 or 10 minutes in windows until it freezes and then it's rinse and repeat, only to happen again. I don't know what it is that is doing it but it doesn't happen in safe mode, so I was hoping that you guys could shed some light on the subject.

Freezing too. Read basic maintenance. It said:
"First off, if you know what these items in the tray are and do not need them running, you can either right click an icon and look for options or a "run with Windows" option. Otherwise, you can double click any icon to open the program and look for options from there." I have an icon that says it is downloading, that never gets above 33% that might be the cause of freezing. Can't open or get more info when I click on it. How can I stop it?

    How exactly does it freeze?
Is it like a program lock where you can move your mouse pointer but not do much else, or is the mouse pointer frozen as well?

What version of windows do you have?

If the icon is a yellow shield, then its windows update downloading updates.
If you can stop your computer from freezing and let it run for more than 5-10 minutes it will probably finish.
