Hey all, I was using my computer for the normal stuff yesterday when all of the sudden it started moving slow as sludge, so, assuming something was crashing, i just decided to restart it and start again. I restarted my computer, and now it's stuck in a restart cycle where it goes through its normal boot cycle for the first minute or so, but when XP starts to load, I get the blue screen of death, and the computer instantly restarts, and it just keeps going and going like this.

Normally, I would probably just run a boot disc and re-install windows, but I'm running a Logitech G11 keyboard, and it seems to only get power for the first 20 seconds of the load, so I can get to the bios settings by hitting the delete key, but when I try to get to the boot disc screen, it has already lost power somehow, and I can't select the right drive for it to read, or any drive, for that matter.

I've read in other forums that maybe upping the power by .05 volts, but unless I get crystal clear instructions from someone on this forum on how to do that, I probably won't be messing with that.

    Please help!

Upping the power is NOT a good idea. The PC was running fine before, right? So unless you've been messing with the internal clocks, bus speeds, and component voltages, there is no need to mess with it now. Obviously, something has gone wrong. :( We need to see the blue screen of death and the error codes it will display. When you power up your PC, you'll start pressing the F8 key right after the first logo screen disappears and before Windows tries to boot. Keep tapping F8 until you get to the Windows boot options menu (I'm assuming you have WinXP, but Vista is similar). Use the up/down arrow keys to select "Disable automatic restart on system failure" and continue booting. When the error occurs, the system should pause at that error so you can write down the error code (they look like STOP:0x0000007F) and the error message (a common one is INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE) and any file names that are listed. Then post that info here and we'll try our best to get it figured out. As to your keyboard problem, I strongly recommend that ALL computer owners purchase or somehow acquire a functional PS2 standard keyboard. They are indispensible in situations like this when USB keyboards just don't seem to be working. You can get new generic PS2 keyboards for about $10-$15 at any PC store; I have seen them for $1.50 at thrift stores and used PC stores.... anyway, post the info from the BSOD error screen and we'll go from there, and hopefully in the meantime you can buy or borrow a PS2 keyboard.

(BTW- I use a USB keyboard too, but I have two PS2 keyboards stashed in my 'PC parts' closet ;) )
