I have an emachine T2984 and it does not power up at all when power button is pushed. Tried another power supply and that did not work. Any suggestions on what the problem could be?

Try Clear CMOS.Plug out the battery, and find the jumper for clearing CMOS(should be close to the battery, and it's 3-pin place, with 2-pin jumper)).Remember the position of the jumper(thiss will be 1-2) and place to (2-3).Wait for 5 minutes and replace back the battery and the jumper. Now boot. Good Luck!!!!

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately I tried what you said and it did not work.

I have also bypassed the on/off switch so that is not the problem.

Any other thoughts/ideas short of replacing the motherboard.

    Thanks again

Can you see if the capacitors in the left corner of the mobo (near the CPU) is not damage?

When you plug in power does the led on the board light up. Check the capacitors to see if any of them are convex on top. Awaiting your anwer.

    Type two slow. ;)

I have looked at all the capacitors and they appear to be ok. Don't see any obvious damage or convex shape on the tops. One green LCD light comes on when the unit is plugged in.

DId you place CMOS jumper on the right place?
Check your mobo for some graphics to see how to properly set the jumper.
What brand and type is your mobo?

I removed battery and reset jumper again. Did not work. I can't find any graphics. The emachine website is useless. The mobo is intel. It looks like I may be gettiing a new computer since a new mobo is not worth the cost. Any other suggestions. Thanks for the help.
