The computer freezes every 12 hours. It displays an error message saying it does not have enough resources to perform the task. After rebooting it is great.
The OS is Windows XP Pro with all the service packs and updates, AMD 2100 processor, RAM is DDR 512, Hard drive is WD 80Gig.(only 30 % filled) I use MSN for browsing and email.
I run Adaware, Spybot, AVG, Avast and Registry First Aid. I have done Panda online scan, removed spyware in safe mode, reinstalled MSN, ran CCleaner. It still freezes after 12 hrs and is fine after a reboot. And I have runtime errors in MSN.
    I need help---any suggestions

    Hi

First off its not going to help you in having multiple Antivirus applications installed on your PC at once as they can cause allsorts of errors and especially slowness in opening software, so please choose between AVG or Avast and remove one of them,

Then please follow our standard cleaning procedures to see if you have anything malware related on your pc, these steps are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy - ONLY IF you were not able to run Windows Defender
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

    Hi --thanks
I followed the directions for downloading, installing, and running HJT including the renaming and the file I attached is a result of that. I am not very comfortable with alot of those steps (some of it seems alot over my head) and was hoping someone would read the HJT log and let me know if there were any obvious problems and how to solve them. I had the freezing problem before I added Avast but I'll pull one of them
I did try to use the tutorial but it was also over my head
Thanks for whatever you can do

Most of the steps are pretty simple, they were written with the intent that they were easy to follow but I appreciate some of them can seem very complicated. Is there a specific step you are having problems with ?

We really can't provide full help from just a HJT log. You should be able to run the online scans in step 6 and get the runkeys and shownew logs as these are just scripts.

Please try and work through it and feel free to ask if you get stuck on a specific step.

    Good Luck :)

I worked through all the steps. I did have to run Bitdefender in Normal mode. PandaActiveScan didn't find anything so there was no report. Attached are the logs
    Thanks

    Your logs are clean.

What Bitdefender found is an infected restore point which can be fixed by flushing system restore HOWEVER I since you are having issues with stability I wouldn't flush it just yet.

I don't think the issues you are having are malware related. I suggest you head over to the software forum and try a post in there. There are lots more people over there than in here so you should get a faster response.
