Computer freezes momentarily when it shouldn't

I have 2 computers... one is Windows 7 and it runs great (C2D, 9800GTX, 4Gb RAM)... that is... programs load fast, no interruptions such as momentary lockups however the other one is Vista (QUAD, 8600GTS, 4Gb RAM) and it will sometimes not let me open G.Chrome and browse easily... if I run IE then it allows me to browse but locks up for a while before freeing up again... this "locking up" happens while performing other tasks too... like in windows explorer when refreshing folders (not just networked... when looking in C:/ for example). For fairly good hardware and a HDD that is defragged, Ccleaned and all unnecessary programs removed I don't see why the OS should lock up randomly when performing simple tasks like opening web pages or exploring the HDD. I was wondering it this was due to some software that is hijacking CPU time to run a process or something.

Could this be due to a wireless router for example? I am connected through LAN to a Netgear WGT624.

Furthermore, I see folders popping up in C:/ randomly such as C:\3590F75ABA9E485486C100C1A9D4FF06ZZZ..Z.....ZZZZZ with many folders within it labelled with Zs and periods. I deleted them and would like to know if malware does this?

Could dust on the MB cause the momentary lockups? I'm going to blow clean it just in case it's heating up excessively while trying to perform a task, locking up... then cooling down... idk. Temp of CPU and MB is around 35 to 40degC so I wouldn't think so.

All scans come up with -ve but would I be able to get an expert to run through my system, please? I would really appreciate it.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

You do not appear to be having malware problems. Your logs are all clean. Perhaps you are having an issue with something you are running. If I had to guess and come up with a test, I would uninstall each of the below and then reboot and see how things are working:

    Browser Guard 4.0
PC Tools Spyware Doctor with AntiVirus 9.0

Thank you for your assistance. The problem was resolved.
I believe it was a combination of PC tools security services and an error that was occurring in IE 9 (something to do with Java so I updated to the latest version). I conducted a reset of IE which fixed the problem and ran the computer without PC tools running and then again with services restarted. All seems fine now. Thank you again.

You're welcome. Glad to hear you got it resolved.

Since you are not having malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. You can uninstall RogueKiller and HitManPro.
    2. Go back to step 6 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
