Alright, problem first started with utorrent, I would have it open for a few moments and my computer will lock up, forcing me to hard reset it.
After awhile I noticed it doesn't do this when Windows Media Player is CLOSED, now it freezes when I have yahoo messenger open with webcam, only when windows media player open.

I know this is not malware related as I have wiped the computer several times on my original Dell Vista install disk, I've also tried:

    1) Formatting of coarse
    2) Different programs for torrents ie (Azerous, BitComet etc...)
    3) Webcam works fine in every other application

Now it seems windows media player is the culprit for all of my problems, because they only occur when that is open, but I dont understand, it seems like when I am using high bandwidth programs, plus windows media player, everything gets angry at eachother.

Oh i've also checked into overheating, but the only thing that is running hotter than the rest is my GPU, but its only 65c or something, I dont remember, any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

    Hey James.
Alright. Lets see what we can do,
Have you tried possibly using a different media program? (VLC) or something just to see if its that application. Or maybe its the fact that the computer is overclocking/overheating due to too much applications running at once. (Seen it happen at my place.) So. Just to understand. If you have Windows media player open with any torrenting/downloading programs, it freezes, or if your using Yahoo/MSN with a Webcam and Windows Media Player it also freezes? Have you tried any video game intensive programs... and do you have the latest video drivers...

    Thanks.

    Hey,

Sorry my reply has been really really delayed, I've been fighting to upgrade this damned machine to Windows 7.
I finally got it and everything seems to be fine, could it be because it is less resource hungry, produces less heat?
I really am thinking the issue with Vista was overheating, but how does heavy network usage cause anything to overheat?

The world may never know, but if you'd like to enlighten me, I'd appreciate it!

Its possible, and yeah. There has been alot of changes, and it was/could have been even possible that you were using the wrong driver and was causing it to overheat. But I know personally, if I use my network card to use alot of bandwidth, or download a big file, it's gets pretty warm. Typically you don't really need to worry about it, but as mentioned, if using the wrong driver, anything can happen :p
