hi guys i'm new to the forum. i know my decent amount of computer information, but i'm no genius so feel free to break down information to me if applicable =D

my current problem right now is the freezing my computer does. it would randomly freeze, my keyboard stops and my mouse stops. i have no choice but to force shut down my computer by holding the power button. this only makes the freezing worse. I also tried a virus scan and cleaning up my registry and temp files, updated my video driver, still nothing. it started by my computer not shutting down. i would click shut down and it would say shutting down, but the computer would never turn off, leaving me no option but to force shut down. ever since then the freezing occurred. i'm not sure how to fix this problem. sometimes when my computer turns off i hear a weird beeping noise that goes on for minutes coming from inside my computer, it starts off as slow low beeps and gradually becomes faster and higher pitched, it can last for minutes.

has anyone had problems like this before? thanks !

Try updating the keyboard and mouse drivers. It is taking a while to shut down because as you were booting, the OS could not find enough RAM to load all the 'stuff' ya got in the 'Startup' folder to load, so it uses the HDD as RAM to load all that 'stuff'.
    That's called VRAM.
To shut down, you have to find find all that 'stuff' that was loaded in VRAM and then find the program's exit command to 'shut down.
All that running around for the CPU takes more time than normal.
So now you have 10 times more knowledge than what ya had before.
Just get more RAM (same type, DDR, DDR2, DDR3 and speed, 333, 666, 1333.And hopefully that may do it ,,Good luck!!!!

my keyboard and mouse drivers are up to date. i can't get more ram because my vista is 32 bit and doesn't support more than 3gb of ram which i already have.
