Hey guys I was wondering if you could help me out? Everytime I try to uninstall a program, say for example Opera, my computer freezes/crashes. Sometimes it happens if I try to download a program from the internet, but installing a program that has been downloaded gives me problems everytime. Another example would be hijackthis, except I was trying to extract it to it's respective folder and it made my computer crash/freeze up. The only time that I'm succesfull at installing anything, I have to go into safe mode.

I'm also getting some bad slow down. My browsers(Opera,SBC Yahoo) seems slower while on the internet. It also seems to take a while to close the browsers out, it's hard to explain but you can watch them close out in sections. It's the same with opening programs, some times they take longer then usual.

I have done the tutorial which didn't come up with anything. The only thing that was different as far as the tutorial goes, is I didn't have access to the internet while in safe mode. I have used Spybot,CC,Spysweeper,Webroot Window Washer, and Mcaffee antvirus. I'm running Windows XP Home with sp2, everything is updated. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Post a Hijackthis log, as an attachment, if you can get it installed.

<< The installed version of Java on this compter is out-dated. Install version 1.5.0_07 available from http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp. Uninstall all older versions of Java on your computer, before installing the latest version of Java. >>

Windows Messeger is running in the background on this computer, and represents a security risk. Disable Windows Messenger by running Shoot The Messenger. If you are using this as your IM client then replace it with MSN Messenger.

Otherwise your HijackThis log is clean.

You have quite a bit that is running on boot. You my want to disable some programs, and see what that does for system stability.
