Hi all. I'm currently having a problem with my dell inspiron 4550 model. It's been a couple of months since I haven't used this computer. So, today, I decided to power it on. And what happened is that I didn't get anything on my screen. I opened up my computer to remove the video card on the AGP slot and placed it back in, and I still don't get anything. The pc doesn't even beep or give me any notification of anything. I did check to see if the motherboard is working and I do see a light indicator and the fan of the cpu is working flawlessly. I then tried removing the ram stick and placing it on the other ram slot, and I still don't get anything.

I also tried some pci video cards (one after another one of course) to see if I can boot up the pc with the pci slots and I still don't get anything. Is my computer fried? Please help.

Try taking all the RAM out and booting. Do you get a beep?

Well the no RAM tells you it is not completely dead.
Is there any HD activity when starting up? Keyboard light flash or CDROM light flash?
You could try unpluging the HD and CDROM and restarting to see if you get anything on the monitor.
You could also try unplugging and taking out the coin shaped CMOS battery for a few minutes. Putting back battery plugging in and see if you get anything.

I think DELL gives a beep for any hardware changes recognized during POST so if you get a beep but no display just hit F1 to continue or restart.

I agree with sach2, I have had this problem with a HD and after unplugging it the boot went OK, to be honest i have no idea why it is so and i still have the HD but if i try to use it in any of my PCs it stops the boot???

Are you getting blinking lights on the monitor? If so, your monitor is bad. RMA it if it's still under warranty. If not, new monitor time.
