computer is flashind and beeping

i tried to turn on my computer today but instead of starting up like normal it justs started flashing near the power button. like the light that would turn on when the computer is running. does this mean something is damaged?

Something is most likely damaged.

Could you specify other symtoms?

Fans working?
Are there any beeps? And if so... how many?

it starts flashing before i even try to turn it on so i dont know if the fans are working or not. its just short rapid beeps and flashes maybe a half second apart and it wont respond if i try to turn the computer on

I wish I had better news for you...

But this indicates you likely have a CPU (processor) failure.

i dont know to much about the parts of a computer. but can i have that replaced?

Sure you can.
In this case though I would really take your computer to a repair tech center for evaluation.
And if it is a CPU problem they can replace it.

Could you tell us what your system is ....have you a clue as to what the motherboard is?
As to the beeps ...exactly how many ....one followed by 4, or 3 or 5?

The power light is flashing with the computer turned off???

Have you unplugged the power cord, then pressed and held the power button in for 20 sec's? then plugged back in and tried?
