Try this: After pressing the "power on" button to the computer, press F8 repeatedly until the menu comes up that has safe mode on it. Select "disable automatic restart on system failure" option. If what I suspect is correct, you should get a blue screen with white text also known as the blue screen of death (BSOD).

Hi, you need to give a bit more information than that, this could be caused by a number of things.

Can you post the details of exactly when it happens in XP.

Also, have you changed anything, I.e added hardware, software or drivers.

Have you tried to restore your system back to a known good configuration?

You need to explain more than that.

Also how old is the comp?

Yeah.... we really need more info than "computer keeps rebooting". How about the make and model of the PC? Which service pack are you using? Does it spontaneously restart without any action from you? Does it load to the desktop or does is it restart during the loading process?

Really.... we need much more info.....

not to change the subject (what others have mentioned). but, try unplugging anything not needed on your comp. i just had a usb wireless adapter go south on me, and it kept making my comp randomly reboot. at first i thought either the p/s was going out or it was heat related. i ruled out both. i was setting up my other comp (with the wireless adapter), to take it's place, and when i plugged in the adapter, that comp also rebooted. anyway, g/l - sos

yer mine had a similar problem to that. it turned out to be the memory chip was stuffed, i got a new chip and it worked fine. i then ran a memory test over the suspected 'dodgy' chip and it showed it was dead.

    hope this helps
