    Hi, how is everyone going?

My laptop has recently started to lag lately.. I'm not sure why. I don't have much installed on it and yes it isn't a powerhouse of a laptop. It used to be much faster. Outlook Express lags a fair bit too.. and the internet. That is all I use on my laptop.

I have run AV scans, malware, spyware etc.. CCleaner and all that and nothing comes up. I've defragged.

Someone told me to install smartdefrag.. and adwcleaner.. the other day ... and since then the computer has been even slower and lagging worse. Browsing is even worse too.. it installed other extensions and hidden ones too I think. It no longer starts up on google but rather some spybot thingo or spysomething with yahoo.

I uninstalled the smartdefrag now but it is still lagging worse etc.

I followed the instructions and ran those scans that are advised on here and attached the logs.

Any help would be greatly appreciate thanks.

Not seeing much to do at all, however I would like to address this statement:

Which browser does this occur in please? Also, would like to point out to you that you could do with a bit of a memory upgrade, that will help overcome any slowness/lagging!

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    • R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www/search
    • O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5C255C8A-E604-49b4-9D64-90988571CECB} - (no file)
    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

Delete this if you see it:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Spigot

http://imageshack.us/a/img841/7292/thisisujrt.gif Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

    I am using Chrome.

I ran the HJT thing and followed your suggestions.

I then followed your suggestions and have attached the JRT log.

Chrome is still coming up with Yahoo-Spigot thing when I first open it even though I've changed the default:
    au.search.yahoo.com/?type=902615&fr=spigot-yhp-ch

    Thanks.

Uninstall Google Chrome using Revo Uninstaller.

Then reinstall and let me know how everything is.
