I have a home built computer 2 yrs old with a GigabyteGA-7VT600 motherboard, AMD 2000+ processor with 1 gig memory and a VisionTek 9200se agp video card running WinXP Home. Everything has been working great until this evening. I left the computer for a few hours and when I came back windows was locked, had to use the reset button to get out of windows, but after this happened computer would no longer boot up. No beep codes nothing all I see on the monitor is out of range. Nothing just a black screen.

I have tried the following things.
    1. Disconnected everything but the video card and one memory stick. Nothing
    2. Tried a working power supply. Nothing
    3. Tried another video card (it was a pci card not a agp) still nothing but black screen with out of range message.
    4. tried another monitor.

Any ideas on what might of went bad?
I have tried everything I can think of.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Your motherboard must have gone bad on you, i had something simular like that that happened to me (about 4 or 5 years ago) but it was an azza board with windows 98.

That is almost exactly what happened to my computer. I left media player running all night (computer is in my bedroom, was playing music) When I woke up I started up a game, got maybe 15 minutes into it, and the system froze. Upon reboot there was nothing. Everything on the mobo powered up, fans etc, but there was no post period, even just to bios screen.

It turned out that my processor had quit on me. It was a P4 1.8 gig about 2 and a half years old, so needless to say it was unexpected that it would just die without having overheated or anything.

beginning to believe that is what happened to mine. I tried another motherboard using the same processor and it still is doing the same thing, all I get is no signal found on the monitor. Pretty strange how it just quit like that, Oh well

    Thanks for posting
