I tried searching for an answer to this in the forums before posting, and didn't see anything that gave me a solution. If I do make a duplicate, sorry in advance.

Have an IBM NetVista model 8310, was using to ghost images for similar machine sin one of our labs, and the imaged machines run just fine. Tried the original machine, and suddenly it gave the "Sorry for the inconvenience" screen. So I tried ALL options on that page, Enter Windows Normal, Safe Mode, Last Known Good....etc, and each time, it starts to move on, but then reboots, and comes right back to this screen.

Windows repair didn't work. Tried a different hard drive with a known good image....same result.

I am at a loss. Is this a software or a hardware issue?

Any advice/help is appreciated as always.

Would sound like a hardware issue ....anything from ram to ide cables ..open the case and see what might be loose or burnt ...and also maybe the power supply.

    Hi

Check in the BIOS that the hard drive is found, even reset bios to defaults, check date and time.

If in BIOS the HD is nto found as TimW mentions above suspect the IDE ribbon as defective so change for new one, or known working one.

I will try the BIOS thing today. I checked, but will double-check the seating of everything. I hope this does something :confused

Thanks for the help none the less.

    Update

Checked BIOS, it recognizes the HDD and has the proper time and date. Pulled the battery and cleared BIOS that way, reset the time/date. Still recognized everything. Still no dice.

Tried a different, known working IDE cable, still the same situation.

    Any other suggestions?

    :hammer

Suspect the power supply ..it would be good if you would post your specs ...

No dice, the power supply is fine. Replaced it with a known good one, and the error didn't go away.

So on a whim, I found a different Windows XP disk to try, just because I was at whit's end. Did a repair using this disk...and by some miracle of almighty zod the computer diety, the stupid computer works now. Seriously.

Thank you guys for all your help, and in the future, I will make sure I add more spec detail to my threads.
