Computer not booting up

I run a Win98SE PC, HP Pavilloin model. Over the last month or two, I've been having trouble with getting it booted up. It will boot, then get to the desktop, show the wallpaper, and mouse, then hang. I found that if I ctrl-alt-del, either one of two things happens. The Close Programs box comes up, either totally blank, or with 'Necutray' listed. If it's got Necutray, I just hit ESC and the computer will finish booting. If the list is empty, I have to start over. I'm not sure what caused this, as I did not install new programs before it began. I run AVG, Spybot, and Outpost Firewall.

    Can anyone help?

Necutray is a [size=-1]driver for external USB storage devices (hard drives, flsh disks, etc). Unistall the driver once you get booted to the desktop and see if that sloves the problem.

I use an external hard drive, a 120 MB Western Digital. But I had been using it for months before this started happening. Should I uninstall the WD driver and reinstall? And how would I find where 'Necutray' is installed, if the two are different programs?

Uninstall the driver, and reboot. See if you still have the problem. Then reinstall the driver. Necutray is part of the driver.
