Hello everyone, I am Francis. I am a businessman who has tried to survive without the use of a computer. I use this for internet brousing only and prefer to use ink and ledger to track my daily work. My computer I bought many years ago, it is a AMD proccesser with 8G of RAM. Does this make sense? If so my problem is: up till just recently it was working (well?) but I had noticed it was slowing each time I would use it (online) and now I can not open any of my programs and all I get is my desktop screen but none of my programs will open. I originally purchased with win.98 then went to win.XP with no other changes. The mouse also freezes when trying to access programs if I move the curser too fast.
I would like to know: if I upgrade can I buy a new proccesser or Hard drive to fix the problem?

    Hi

Yes makes sence to me so your ok. 8GB of Ram seems excessive, especially as you cannot use it all with Windows XP (unless using Windows XP64 which is not a generally uses version by many) as most Windows XP PCs are using XP 32bit which can only use aroudn 3.5GB of ram.

With you having slowness it could be from a few things from general clogging up of the HDD with junk and temps to malware (virus or trojans etc) so try the below and see if you have any luck

    1. Give your PC a spring clean and follow this guide HERE
    2. Run the steps HERE and check that you dont have any malware which can cause a PC to be none responsive, if the scans find anything then attach the logs that you will have gained in running the guide to a new thread in the Malware Forum area of the forum HERE
