Computer Not Running Windows Update.

Hi,

Hubby uses this computer sporadically when he DJ's - hasn't used it since Jan 2017 which is when I see the last updates which were to Apple products. It's a Toshiba Satellite L505 and is running Windows 7 and has SP1. Notification in task bar indicates that there are 11 Important updates but when I try to download them, it just stays on 0% for hours. Yesterday, it said it successfully uploaded a few, restarted the computer but it still says most recent check for updates made on 25 Jan 2017 even though it indicates that updates were installed yesterday. However, it doesn't show any of them in the list of recent updates. Can I somehow "fix" this problem. Thanks.

 

You should run the Windows Update Troubleshooter to start with:

The most important update that system requires is Service Pack 2

Hi, I tried running the Windows Update Troubleshooter and it just spun and spun for about 1/2 hour without any results.

 

Install SP3 manually

 

Thank you but if you could provide more information on exactly how to do this step by step it would be appreciated. Also, I don't think I have SP 2 - only SP1.

Service Pack 2/ Service Pack 3. The computer indicates that it has SP1 (Service Pack 1)

 

There is NO SP2 or SP3 for Windows 7.

You can install it manually like any other software. Save to desktop then simply right click it and choose 'run as administrator'.

One of the above tools may work. I rely on a Russian programmer to update Windows 7 and leave the telemetry on the floor. Only 8.1 machines are mission critical. (Simplix UpdatePack). There are rollups from '15 and '16 but sounds like you have those. Check time on clock is correct also.
