I'm not sure if this is due to a virus or something else, but my laptop will only boot in safe mode. I've tried to go through the malware removal steps listed, but some of them won't work in safe mode. I haven't downloaded anything recently, so I don't know how my computer would have been infected, but I don't know what else it could be. I tried msconfig to disable some of the programs that load at set up, but that hasn't helped. When I try to load in normal mode, I get to the desktop screen, but nothing shows up on the desktop and I can't access start. Please help!
    Thanks,
    Lisa

Just run thru all steps of the READ ME anyway. Some of them will still work.

As stated in the READ ME, do not use MSconfig to disable anything. Undo what you did. The only thing exceptable right now is for MSconfig to be showing that you are booting in safe mode.

Computer won't boot in normal mode (logs attached)

    Hi,
So I went through as many of the items on the malware removal sticky as I could--some wouldn't run in safe mode, and I can't get my computer to work in any other mode. The problem started after I shut the computer down after it had recently updated itunes and when I tried to turn it back on a few hours later, it wouldn't boot in normal mode. It basically gets past the windows screen but then loads a blank desktop, so I can't access any programs. Anyway, I've attached the logs from combofix and malwarebytes in the hopes that someone can help. I don't know if this is a malware problem or if something happened with the updates. When I ran Spybot it didn't find anything and neither did malwarebytes.

    Thanks for your help!

    Lisa

Please remain in one thread for your problems. I merged you back with your other thread.

You need to attach the logs from SUPERAntispyware and MGtools as requested.

I could not get those two to work in safe mode--all I have is the logs that I attached.

MGtools will run just fine in safe boot mode. It is not a Windows program that requires and installer. The MGtools.exe file just needs to be saved to C:\ as requested and then just double click on it to run it. It will create a log named C:\MGlogs.zip when it finishes. If you cannot get this to run you are going to have to explain what problems you are having in detail and also check out the error messages that are explained on the Using MGtools download page given in the READ ME. We need this log to continue because based on what you have included thus far there are no malware issues.
