    Hello Major Geeks:

I followed your Malware removal directions for Windows XP to the letter (as far as I could tell). I did remove a fair number of nasty bugs.

In the aftermath, my computer is 50/50 on whether it will even boot up without freezing, I am crashing during every session with the computer just locking up.

Firefox is particularly bad, but using just about any application the computer usually just freezes after a few minutes. On the odd side, CoolViewer (Secondlife) doesnt seem to freeze.

I may still have bugs as my CounterSpy definitions updater is not working. Also, I seem to still have a browser redirect bug which is affecting my Firefox.

Please help as my computer is virtually unusable now.
    Thank you!

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

We cannot continue until you attach the log from MGtools that was requested. This is the C:\MGlogs.zip file.

Why are you running without an antivirus program?

    Re: MG log.zip attached

Sorry, I thought I gave you all the logs. Mglog.zip attached.
I run CounterSpy but may have had it disabled when I ran the other programs. It says "enabled" now so I assume its running.

    Thanks
    Naomi

You have CounterSpy AntiSpyware installed. You do not have an antivirus program installed based on your logs.

The main problem for computer performance issues is inadeqauate memory. You logs show the below.
We recommend having at least twice the amount of memory you have.

I will give you a few performance related tips to try but your issue is not remaining malware.

First I recommend uninstall Ad-Aware since it is nearly as effective as SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes we had you installed. Ad-Aware is just wasting resources with a service running.

The below fixes with analyse.exe (HijackThis) are optional fixes. These are not malware. These are unnecessary startups and I'm suggesting removing them to avoid wasting system resources on having the log when you boot your PC.

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now.

    R3 - URLSearchHook: Yahoo! Toolbar - {EF99BD32-C1FB-11D2-892F-0090271D4F88} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Works Update Detection] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Works Shared\WkUFind.exe"
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [mmtask] "C:\Program Files\MUSICMATCH\MUSICMATCH Jukebox\mmtask.exe"
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MMTray] "C:\Program Files\MUSICMATCH\MUSICMATCH Jukebox\mm_tray.exe"
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\jusched.exe"
    O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-18\..\Run: [AdobeUpdater] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Updater5\AdobeUpdater.exe (User 'SYSTEM')
    O4 - HKUS\.DEFAULT\..\Run: [AdobeUpdater] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Updater5\AdobeUpdater.exe (User 'Default user')
    O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Gamma Loader.lnk = C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Calibration\Adobe Gamma Loader.exe
    O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE
    O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now we need to use ComboFix
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box into it:
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Now run Ccleaner. Only use the Run Cleaner button. Do not run anything else on any other forms.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!
