I'm having some incredibly slow performance with my computer. Orginally for a long time until 3 weeks ago I was having slow performance as well. Then I used a program called "The Cleaner" and it removed two Trojans and my performance really improved. Then about a week ago I started having problems again. I've used "The Cleaner" again but no luck. I've now stumbled upon this site. I've followed the directions in the FAQ. Here are my logs. I appreciate any help anyone could give me. I apologize in advance if I broke forum decor in anyway. It is my first time here and I did try to follow instructions but sometimes they just don't sink in.

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Your problems do not appear to be due to malware. They could just be due to software that you are using some of which seems to have been installed recently. For example McAfee appears to have been just installed on Nov 14th. What you have installed is a massive resource hog?

I also see that BitLord was installed recently. Did your problems start after installing/using this?

Also I see SpyZooka recently installed. Did you purchase this or is it a free trial?

Also also see all the below poker junk some of which has added system services to your PC which is beyond me why they would need to install as a service and always have it running even when you are not using their software.
Here is something you should do!

    Uninstall the below software:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 9
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03
Viewpoint Media Player <-- should have been uninstalled in step 0 of the READ ME

I just completed a major update to McAfee on the 14th of November. I have actually had it since I bought this computer. I was having this problem before the update. You are saying that this is a major resource hog? What can I do about it?

BitLord was downloaded and installed when I started doing the tasks in the FAQ a very short while ago. Thus, my problems occured before I downloaded it.

I just purchased SpyZooka. I was looking around and it seemed recommended. I purchased this because I was hoping it would solve the problem I was having. I don't know if you have any thoughts about it. It seems alright but I wish I would have found this site before purchasing it.

I play poker quite a bit. So those programs are very important to me but obviously I don't use all of them all of the time. How can I not have them run as a service and run only when I need them? Further one thing caught my eye. You wrote that Poker Tracker Version 2.05.00p was being used. I have updated the software SEVERAL times since then and I am using a higher version. Why would that version be displayed?

I will do your suggestions as you asked. Thanks.

I'm not sure if this is important but I was talking with some people about this problem and I told them what my computer capablities were to ask if perhaps I needed to make some upgrades. All of them said my computer is more than capable and shouldn't have any resource problems. I will list them here just in case it might be helpful.

    Pentium 4 3.4 GHz
    1.0GB RAM

Hard Drive Capacity is 52.3GB and 18.9GB are being used.

Thank you for the great welcome!!! I really appreciate your time!!!

One thing though as well. While uninstalling the Java Update 9 Mcafee came up and told me that there was some kind of unauthorized registry change. I choose to block it. I am not sure if I should have or if it is going to have any effect on anything.

Nothing other than uninstall it and use something else.

I do not have any real experience with it yet. They make a lot of outrageous claims on how good they are and how they fix all malware and if they do not that you can talk to them and they will send you a fix in 24 hrs. I cannot say what they can and cannot do yet, but no program on the market (even from huge companies like McAfee) can meet all these claims. I'll leave it at that.

You cannot unless there are options in the program to stop this. We could remove the services but I have no idea what impact that would have on the programs themselves.

They probably do not do a very good job during there updating and are not refreshing the registry key that shows the installed program. Next time, try uninstalling the program, rebooting and then installing the new program. That may work.

Your PC configuration should be more than adequate! However, if you uninstall ALL of McAfee and then use the below antivirus and firewall, I think you will notice a big improvement.

    AVG Free Edition

    ZoneAlarmFree

These two items will not provide all the items that McAfee is supposedly providing but most of what McAfee is given you is really not needed! The price you pay for all these utilities is performance. You have to decide on how much performance you are willing to sacrifice.

Just take a look at the below that I cut out of your HJT log. This is all McAfee.
