computer randomly shutting down

so i just upgraded from 1gig of ram to 3. the 1 gig is 512x2 Kingston Value and the other 2 are 1gx2 corsair. Ever since i've upgraded my computer has randomly shut down twice already around 4-5am. should i take out the kingston or are there any suggestions?

 

Visit the Memory section here at MajorGeeks, and download a memory diagnostic tool; I like the bootable ones, for example the Microsoft Windows Memory Diagnostic. You can create a bootable floppy or CD from an ISO image. Boot to it, and press 'T' to run the extended tests once it's up and running. Let it run thru at least 3 full passes; it may take some time, so be patient. If the RAM passes the tests, try installing the RAM in a different order on the MB, or add one stick at a time, reboot, run the PC for awhile, shut down, add 2nd stick, reboot, etc.... You may want to check with your MB manufacturer for RAM compatability issues, and see if maybe there's a BIOS upgrade that addreses RAM issues. If the PC is shutting down after running for approximatly the same amount of time each day, it could be a thermal issue where the system gets too hot after 'x' number of hours. Use Everest, SpeedFan, Hmonitor, PCWizard, or a similar util to periodically check your system temps. While you're in the case swapping RAM around, check all the fans and heat sinks: make sure they're clean of dust and crud, and make sure the fans are spinning freely and easily. Immediately replace any fans that appear to be dying. Good luck, and keep us posted!

I'm sure you know this, but.... you'd be surprised at how many people get into the case and start pulling RAM sticks without unplugging the power cord. Even tho' the PC is turned off, many MB's stay 'hot' unless the power cord is removed....
