Computer Reboots Every 5 Minutes After Logon Only

This box was receently reloaded and the used returned to me stating he could not access the Internet. After much checking I found whatever virus he had contracted actually broke the Windows Networking files. I could not reinstall as the infection was still present so I wiped it out and reinstalled Win XP Pro SP3 from scratch. I did all of the updates, including those for java, Adobe, QT & Flash. I had no problems running the unit for a day to verify everything worked. I returned it, finished setting up specific print drivers for him and let him go. He called today stating teh computer reboots every 5 miniutes AFTER one logs onto Windows. Before logon it will run and not reboot at all. I tried to run Anti Malware software but it rebooted during the scan. I ran Avast (on reboot) and it conpleted without rebooting - about 45 minutes for the scan. Then I logged in and it rebooted 5 minutes later. Due to the fact that it ran the Avast scan completely, I believe there is no issue with hardware, but that this is a software issue I just cannot pin down. Any thoughts would be helpful,

what about any dump logs? do you have any? could click to disable a system restart too while looking for the dump options

 

I am not sure where to get dump logs; and I will click to disable system restart on errors next. Where would dump logs be located?

Thanks for the info and tutorial - very good information.
I actually turned off the restart after crash option and when it crashed it showed mt the error was with the video driver. I uninstalled the driver, installed a new one and voila, issue resolved. Had I not known how to turn off the auto restart feature I would have reloaded the whole box, so that piece helped out greatly. Thanks again,
