At first I had a problem which was that when I started up my computer my monitor would remain completely blank, while I heard my computer go through the start up routine (Testing CD Writer, DVD-ROM Player etc) and would remain blank after the routine has finished. So I googled the problem and it seemed that many people had the same problem and the solution turned out to remove the power cable from monitor then hold the power button for 30s-1m and that should be that. But now my computer itself just will not start. A Green light goes on but the computer stays dead. Help please?

open up your case, and detach and again attach the ram, try to clean the whole box with a vacuum cleaner, the problem will be resolved, and also make sure your cpu is getting required and enough power supply also check your PSU (Power Supply Unit) .. If it doesn't resolved then tell me..

DO NOT put a vacuum cleaner anywhere near the inside of the computer. They create static electricity which can damage the computer.

Please answer Plodr's question before trying anything.

The case is unmarked, but the motherboard is an ASUS P5W02 Premium.
