computer running slow

hey all

odd problem with my computer. it started a week ago when i used dvdfab to burn a disk which took a while. after that burning disks is taking much longer to do, and some dvd's are playing slow on my laptop so unable to watch them.

my computer is core 2 duo 2gh and was fine before the mentioned incident. any ideas?

it was mentioned to me it might be a hardware issue but im not sure. the computer is newish but wanted to avoid sending it back.
