    Hello,

i was just wondering if all these parts would work together. As this would be my FIRST PC build i have no idea. but from i can understand they seem to compatible. I'm leaving out HD's, DVD/CDburners, Case...etc that stuff i don't care about right now as i already have a few parts from an old computer that i could throw in till i start caring about those things. I'm also leaving out Power supply as i believe any will work as long as it meets the wattage needed...Right? I will get a case and stuff later after getting the parts needed to make it a Average gaming PC. NO LED's Crap just a computer that can run games with little to NO noticeable slowdowns. I'm also not talking about playing todays games I'm talking 2005-early 2006 on back, they had the best games.

ALSO KNOW! I want this to be a gaming PC, but at the same time i don't want to spend thousand's of dollars for this stuff i just need something better then my PCI (not AGP) Geforce FX 5500 i got now.....it kind of bad when "Morrowind" brings my computer to it Knees :(

I would need new everything because nothing would be compatible with my old stuff i have 2.6 GHz CPU....but it's celeron not pentuim. To me a gaming computer must have stable frame rates over 40FPS...Would this do me good?

    Computer Parts:

    Motherboard:

ASUS P5N-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard $116.99

Has SLI support that would take advantage of in the future.

    Video:

    XFX PVT73GUGD3 GeForce 7600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card - Retail $119.99 -$89 after rebate

Everyone seems to have good things to say about it, a few games mentioned that ran on "best Quality" on it are a few that i wanted to play.

    Processor:

    Intel Pentium 4 631 Cedar Mill 3.0GHz 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor - Retail $79.99
    (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116004)

Should be better then my 2.6GHz Celeron......and it's pentuim! i wanted dual-core but that will be a later upgrade.

If you have any other suggestions make sure the price is close to the original that i have posted. because that all that i really afford.
Grand Total: $316.97 (without shipping cost/tax) (286.97 with the rebates)

Hell , even $300 is breaking the bank..

Is this a good Setup or even compatible?

a pentium 4 is nothing these days, i know cause ive got one haha. at LEAST get this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115013

it performs VERY well (dont let the clock speed deceive you, it would outperform a pentium 4 by leaps and bounds)

everything else looks good. however you may want to save up a bit and pop for at least an 8600GTS which would future-proof your system a bit with DX10 capabilities while still providing the possibility for SLI in the future. either way works but you'll most likely end up spending more in the long run if you dont try to future-proof it from the beginning

    Thanks for fast reply!,

Ummm...Ok, what about this graphics's card?

Again new games i don't care about, all i would want is to play oblivion on at least high.

Total Now: $348.97 WOW......Um i may just buy a console.....WHY do commuter parts have to be so much?

EDIT: IF i leave out the Dual-CORE processor an replace with original Pentium 4 it's only $296.97 (with rebates) With i guess ain't bad.

I don't care about speed so much as just upgrading from a FX5500 to something i could get more then 17FPS out of in morrowind.

sounds good, probably a bit faster than a 7600GT and from the reviews it sounds like it will do whatcha want

howver, oblivion takes quite a bit to run it on high. 2 gigs of ram, good processor (core 2 duo will do much better than a pentium 4) and at LEAST a 7600GT

    check these charts out: http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics_2007.html?modelx=33&model1=716&model2=854&chart=294

an 8600GTS is a bit better than the 8600GT which does pretty well on oblivion at MAX (high it should be just fine)

feel free to ask any more questions

(haha i know whatcha mean about console price vs. pc...PC's do quite a bit more though, but you can run Linux on a PS3)

I may just buy a console first....at least that way it WOULD be future proof until it's life is over.

I have been thinking about a PS3 though i seen some comparisons of Oblivion on the 360 VS PS3 and the PS3 version does look more like the PC screen shots i have seen. Although dead rising does look fun.

But, anyway..... that would be a good card then, MSI is a good company to buy from?

OH, and if i did happen to want to buy a PC instead of building is Alienware good with there products? I know that at minimum i would be spending $1200, but at least there they have payment plans that are affordable. $87 a month doesn't sound bad if i can get a super gaming PC with 2 SLI'd (<-?) 8800's in the case!
