    Hopefully a quick y'all,

I have an intel dual core cpu & asus 95nesli muthaboard.
My dvd drive is set to primary on the secondary ide.
My HDD is also set to primary on the primary ide.
The comp. boots up thru xp cd & copies files then restarts.
Then boots thru to windows logo then windows installation screen..(collecting information..dynamic update... preparing installation... installing windows...finalizing installation)
Sits on that screen for a anywhere upto 2 minutes (several attempts), on 39 minutes to go.
    Then instant shutdown. Nuthin.
    Sometimes reboots into a loop.

Sure hope you guys can help me
    Cheers

Thanks heaps for your reply Bakloigic,

I have now tested hard drive and ram and swapped power supply.
Even changed dvd drive. Still shuts down. Only components left is the mobo, cpu or maybe i have changed some bios settings accidentally.
I have no idea. I get the feeling it maybe something simple or not.
    Just no idea dammit.

    Any other suggestions, keen as.....

    Cheers

If you feel you might have changed something in the Bios, - on startup, press del/F2 to get into bios , and set default (usually F9, but it will show you, then click F10, click yes/enter, and the system will restart.
    Other things to do/try....
1/ I have not had time to look up your motherboard, but if it has a JMicron IDE Controller------Some boards gave issue in installation, with a JMICRON IDE CONTROLLER, that made the CD/DVD Drive dissappear to Windows, on installation, so that it could no longer read the cd in that drive
, if this is the case, eject the cd,and put it in a different cd rom or, (try External cd rom(usb)

2/ Disconnect any second cd/dvd rom

    3/ Clean the CD

4/ Disconnect any usb devices , use non usb mouse.

5/ Just try clicking cancel, and let it reboot, sometimes it will work, and go past that point.
I have had to give a few quick trys, as I have a lot to do this morning, and will look back in later.

    Keep us posted

    Well,

It turned out to be me:)
    Bloody stupid.
I bought a new tower and transferred components to it.
In so doing I didn't manage to attach the heatsink fan as well as should have.
The CPU would overheat and shutdown.
    All is well now.

    Cheers for your suggestions Baklogic.
