computer shuts off during system recovery

Hi I have a HP Pavilion Notebook with Windows XP Home, and I've been having problems with it so I decided to reformat it, so I've been trying to use my HP QuickRestore System Recovery CDs, but whenever it starts recovering my computer shuts off, but not always at the same place. I also tried using my Operating System CD but it shuts off too. What should I do?

Download - Pre-Compiled package for Floppy (DOS - Win)

copy the three files onto a floppy(except the "readme") and reboot with the floppy in the drive ... it's a memory test to see if your memory is bad
