    Hi,
This is my first post I found this site doing a google for Trojan found last night running avg called Trojan horse collected.5.L I was running thru all the steps in the READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT. I have put all the spyware tools in a folder and was running the Trend Micro's Free Online Scan and my computer shuts down. It did track TROJ ROOTKIT.H and it said it was non cleanable. I didn't get a chance to delete it because the computer crashed. My question is this should I skip this section and move on to the next step? Thank you for your help & reply!

Did you run the online scan in safe mode? If so, skip TrendMicro and continue. If you were in safe mode when it crashed or you cannot run the online scanner in safe mode, also skip to the next steps. Were you able to notice the filenames that it found?

    Hello,
Thank you so much for your reply! The trojan was in documents & settings. I tried to run the symantic security check and it would just give me a blank screen. When I ran McAfee Avert it would get part way thru and then crash. I am gonna try again this morning. I have even tried to recover my whole computer the other day with the restore disk and it would still crash. I am at a lose here. Thanks again for your help!!

But as I asked in my last message, "were you in safe mode".

At anyrate just continue on thru the rest of the steps in the tutorial, and when you come back here just tell us what you could and could not run and why.

I'm guessing your temp files. make sure you clear out all your cookies and temp files first thing, alot of those will show in any scans you run, ad aware etc.
if these are out of the way it'll be easeir to tell where the real problems are.

Running the READ ME FIRST will do this already.
