computer slowdown and process Question

hello, been having a few problems with my computer, spyware and virus problems are in check(all clean in other words)
However, my computer is still slowing down, and explorer.exe in the task manager is eating up memory like a hungry pig....as I watch it, it increments randomly upward...
currently it is at 15,956 is this normal behavior for explorer.exe? or should it stay at a specific amount of memory?

You did not even tell us what OS you have?

Yes explorer.exe could take up a large amount of memory. Depends on how many and what programs you are running. Should it keep using more and more......not if you are not doing anything additional.

Define what you mean by "slowing down". Is it always slow (all programs and operations)? Or do you mean surfing is slow? Or something else? How does it behave if there is no internet connection available? How does it work in safe mode?

How to you know you are free of malware?

hello again, I have run through every possible program you guys have reocmmended, and have all spyware/malware in chck it appears...
I am running winxp/home....
use the computer primarily as a Joint Operations server-
when JO is running cpu goes 100%-(never used to)
cpu is a 2.8ghz intel

have minimal programs running,
have a 256mg nvidia 5500 video card
1 gig of ram
80 gig 7200 rpm hd
40 gig 7200 rpm hd
cd-rw and dvd drives
Programs I run for malware removal and anti-virus programs are as follows
cwshredder
ccleaner
avast stinger
antivir pe classic antivirus
ewido anti-malware
microsoft anti-spyware
spyware blaster
microsoft malicious software remover
adaware
spybot s&r
also use hijack this

The programs i use simultaneously while running the server are
Joint ops:Escalation
YAhoo messenger
teamspeak
those in themselves might account for the amount of cpu being used i suppose

I still cannot tell from any info that you are supplying that your problems are related to malware. Perhaps you need to ask questions in the Game Forum.

I do not recommend having both Ewido and MS Antispyware installed as a full time solution. This could be resource intensive. If you bought Ewido, uninstall MS Antispyware. Otherwise uninstall Ewido and keep MS Antispyware.

Other then that all I can say is that if you want to pursue looking for any malware problems then follow the steps below.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

- Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

- Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
