    Hello,

I am looking for a program preferably free that when you run it shows the specs of a computer specifically the type of memory a computer is running ie
DDR, DDR2, PC2100 sdram etc. does anyone know of one many things show how much memory you have but not specifically the type. Thanks

Are you meaning you want it to give you the exact make and model of RAM, or the SDRAM, DDR, DDR2 type? Belarc certainly use to give the latter

Most people who want the particulars on their ram, want it because they already know or at least suspect that they don't have enough.

If you'll just go to www.crucial.com and download their Scan program, and run it, it will tell you exactly what you have, what type it is and what you can buy to improve your situation.

I do that for all my customers and many want to buy the new ram from Crucial right then and there.
Their RAM is some of the highest quality you can buy and usually at very reasonable prices. Did I mention FREE shipping and lifetime warranty?

    Good Luck!

Apologies to the other responders who may have thought that I meant to demean their posts. Nothing was further from my intentions.

I was just making an observation, that usually when someone wants to know more about their own ram situation, it's because they are having performance problems that point to a lack of ram.

That becomes a three part quest.
First "how much ram and what type do I currently have?"
Second "how much ram will my motherboard take and my OS use?"
and ultimately, "where can I get more ram of good quality and the correct type at a good price?"

Being in the 'PC business', I have to supply the answers to all three of those questions to my customers on a weekly basis.
I don't sell ram, so Crucial is my ram supplier.
They scan the computer to get exactly the right ram for that PC and then they make recommendations as to different configurations that can be used and finally you can order the ram right from their web site.
Shipping is usually free to anywhere in the US and the ram comes with a lifetime warranty.

I greatly admire any business that works with the efficiency and speed that Crucial does. I've been in the technical support business for 43 years and believe me when I say it's hard to find businesses that work like that, any more.

Again, I apologize if anyone thought I was stepping on their post.

    Happy Holidays Everyone!
