computer testing software

windows xp. Wondering if any software programs you can suggest to try and post log to get help. Want to test and see if hardware is okay or somthing going bad. Or maybe something to chec for errors.. I remember hearing about a stress test. Pc hangs and freezs at start up. Dont want to play vidos on firefox. Thought bout uninstalling ff then re download....but if memory i right...things are left behind...so some program was needed to get rif of ff completely
